Newsletter August 2006
Hi,
Welcome to the second newsletter from Target investigations & Security. You have either received this as you are a current client, have previously been a client or have connections from within the company.
It is hard to believe that it is already the end of August and (dare I say it) less than four months till Xmas. But look on the bright side – it will also get a bit warmer as well.
After the first issue of this newsletter was sent out we had an overwhelming response. I appreciate all those who managed to find the time to make contact. This associated with the launch of our website (www.targetpi.co.nz) produced record hit numbers. I now truly believe in the marketing gurus’ advice to get on line. Again we would welcome any feedback and comments regarding our site.
If you missed the first issue – please go to the newsletter page where you can find them in the archives.
Updates:
In this section I hope to bring you any follow up from issues raised in the last newsletter.
The response to our new risk management division has been staggering. Not only has it filled gaps within our company structure, but it now offers our clients a complete service. Please contact Craig Ellmers in our office if you have any queries.
Substance abuse also generated a great deal of talk. We have now formed an association with New Zealand Drug Detection Agency (www.nzdda.co.nz) who specialise in this field. We now find that more and more employees are stealing at their work place to fuel a habit. Please contact me if you wish to find out further information on this fantastic new service.
Computer Forensics:
We are pleased to announce that we are now capable of providing full computer forensics services. We have qualified staff providing the technical requirements to deliver outstanding results in this very specialised field. We have a fully equipped and secure room from which all analytical work can be carried out on site.
This is presently a very popular topic as no doubt many of you saw that a worker in Whangarei was recently convicted of theft from his employer. He had been downloading music videos and pornography on his work computer. It was also discovered that he had downloaded company databases.
There is also the case of the Department of Corrections manager who got caught downloading pornography at his work place.
These types of cases are becoming increasingly common. We are repeatedly engaged to search a computer for evidence of this nature. In some cases the suspect has attempted to clear information, but we are equipped to recover it.
Recent cases have uncovered pornography (including child porn), lengthy periods on auction websites (such as “Trade Me”) and non work related websites, downloading of inappropriate files, theft of intellectual property (IP). The latter of course has the potential to destroy a business and someone’s long hours building the business up.
If you require further information on this service please contact either myself or Craig Ellmers.
News in the Office:
A big welcome to Fiona Pierson who joins the staff as Office Administrator. She will normally be the cheery voice on the end of the phone when you ring in, so please say hello. Since her time in the office she has taken a huge workload off me, and added some refreshing touches to brighten up the office.
Competition:
Over the months of September, October and November – anyone providing us with a business lead or introduction will go into the draw for a free 2 hour security appraisal (valued at $500). Please email them through with the subject text – Business Lead.
So this is your opportunity to spread the word. Look out for our regular competitions as they may be of interest to you or your company.
Conclusion:
If there is anything you wish to discus with me please give me a call or drop me an email. I can guarantee total discretion and 100% commitment. I look forward to helping you.
Kind Regards,
Gary
